A frequent questions for harp players is “What made you learn the harp?”  I’ll answer that question with this song, which, by the way, is a true story.  I got my private pilot’s license a year or two before taking up the harp, and it just stood to reason that I’d have guaranteed employment in the next world.

The SlowjamaDans are back, this time with a tribute to Slowjamastan’s (dry but mighty) Lazy River, a slow jam. Slowjamastan is a micro-nation in the California desert. It’s national animal is the ring tailed raccoon. It boasts the Lazy River that is so very lazy that it rarely bothers to have any water.  Hoagy Carmichael and Sidney Arodin wrote “Lazy River”in 1930, almost a century before the Lazy River was a twinkle in the exalted Sultan of Slowjamastan’s eye. The song was way ahead of its time! So here’s a little desert harp rendition.
